The Trottier soccer team, a highly wanted club and team, kicks in with a crazy season on both ends, all having one goal: to win. Home games take place at 9-ll or Finn elementary or away at other schools.
The girls soccer team, coached by none other than Mrs. Casey herself, had a great season with a record of 3-3-1. The great group of girls were led by captains Aileen Li and Isabella Dallas.
According to Mrs. Casey, “Aileen is vocal, fast, great footwork, always moving, and a smart player.” So that’s why she was chosen as captain. Top goal scorers and assisters for the girls team were Alieen Li and Isabella Dallas. Both had 3 goals and 2 assists. Goalies for the season were Lila Fialkow, Cara Sacks, and Aileen Li. Mrs. Casey claimed that she has enjoyed coaching and the girls are awesome, have been fun, and the team likes to have fun. Most coachable over the course of the season was Stella Guimaraes. Also, Coach Casey has claimed that the most improved over the season for the girls soccer team was Hannah Varghese.
Coach Casey said, “Our strategy for the season is keep the ball on the ground, create space and make triangles for give and go passing and communication.” During practice she likes to focus on passing the ball and the basics of soccer due to the fact that they have some new soccer people on the team.
The boys soccer team was coached by Mr. Powers. Their record was 2-9. Even though it was not the best season, they had come together and helped each other, by bringing each other up and pushing through the season, getting 2 wins and a great morale throughout the team.
Mr. Powers states on who is the most coachable, “For me it has to be Caden Milsback” who is also the captain of the team. The top assister is Rowan Henson, and the top goalscorer is also Cayden Milsback, who got a hattrick. Most improved in Mr. Power’s eyes is Kyle Fruitman, he states, who went from “Struggling to stay into it, to being a key part of the team.”
The boys when at practice say that they skirmish the girls a lot, and work on passing. Their strategy is to push the ball up, spread wide, and create important plays with passes. When asked how he likes coaching, Mr. Powers responds with, “I love it, the kids are great, and it’s fun.”
The soccer teams, after many years of asking, ran their second season, and it was a bang and a fun experience for both the coaches and the kids.
