In 2023-2024, The Northborough/Southborough district is holding a reading challenge. This fun and educational challenge is for the whole community to participate in. When interviewing the librarian, Mrs.Allenson, she said that there had been many people participating such as parents, staff, and students. There will be parties, prizes, and more for the participants.
There are a couple of ways to sign up for this reading challenge. One way is to go to the Hreschak /Kittleson homepage on Canvas and click the link in the announcement. Another way to access this information is by using the bookmarks given out in the library. On these bookmarks you can find a QR code to scan that will give you the information you need. When you scan this code or navigate to the announcement page, you can get to the school library website and follow the steps to register for the reading challenge.
In February, Algonquin will be holding a big party in the library for all participants to come to and enjoy. There are also additional prizes for the winners. After each month you can go down to the library to collect your prize. Each month there is a new category. A couple of these categories are a book under 100 pages, an award-winning book, and a graphic novel. Some of the other categories are reading a nonfiction book, a book set in a place you’d like to go to, a poetry book, a book with a one-word title, a book that sparks curiosity, and a book about someone else’s culture or experiences.
Overall this reading is a fun activity for you to do in your free time. There are many different awards and advantages to joining this challenge. According to Mrs. Alenson, “ Our goal is to bring people together with this challenge.“
