Trottier Basketball Starts Strong

Trottier+Basketball+Starts+Strong

The Trottier Basketball teams started practices, in November, for the 2023-2024 season. Tom St. Pierre is the coach for the boys’ basketball team, and Stephanie Wysocki is the coach for the girls’ team. Both coaches are excited to see what the season brings to the team. The boys this season aren’t as tall as in recent years, so the attribute of rebounding needs to be top-notch to win games. In the first game of the season, both teams played Marlboro. The girls won, but the boys lost by a buzzer-beater. As of January 10th, the girls are undefeated, and the boys team is 3-2.

Boys’ Trottier Team

The Trottier team has been coached by Mr. St. Pierre for the past 20+ years, going undefeated once behind their star player Alex Karaban, who is now a starter at Uconn for his second year. This year Coach St. Pierre picked 13 boys, including four seventh graders and nine eighth graders. He told us that “it was the first time he took over two seventh graders in 12 years.” The lineup this year consists of eighth graders, Jack Lehane, Steven Earls, Owen Poirier, Aarush Shah, Rocco Lemuto, Jack Or, Blake Sechko, Caden Millsback, and Thomas(Dubby)Sinclair. The four seventh graders are Tony Zhao, Cole Triompo, Jack Wysocki, and Ranveer Yarala. This year, the team’s strength is shooting. The only thing that harms them in games is their rebounding skills. In addition, they are a shorter team full of guards and really need to work on getting rebounds. Coach St. Pierre needs the team to “splash and crash” the boards for rebounds. The boys are 3-2 after losses from Shrewsbury Middle and Whitcomb Middle(Marlborough).

Girls’ Trottier Team

The girls’ team has been coached for the past three years by Stephanie Wysocki. All three years she has brought Trottier to a winning record. The team this year consists of 12 girls with five seventh graders. Some of the girls’ strengths consist of finishing, rebounding, and fast break points. Devin Feassler was the only 7th grader to start the first game of the season. She finished the game with the most rebounds. Lila Fialkow scored the most points on the team with 11 points, coming off the bench. She drove to the basket plenty of times and finished through contact. The girls’ starting lineup for the first game was Campbell Hurley, Sophia Brooks, Amna Khan, Devin Faessler, and Adrianna Sarno. Lila Fialkow was the first off the bench and led Trottier to a win in their first game of the season.

The teams are currently cycling through their second part of the season in which they will play more home than away games.  Go Trottier Rams!
